Mr. Tony Maresch,
I received the lot this
afternoon, and I wanted to let you know that I am beyond satisfied! It
was much more than I had hoped it would be. I expected a quality lot
and I was not disappointed! Hopefully in the future I will prevail on
another lot. In the future I will also make it a point to pass along
my recommendation that yours is the best auction house to deal with,
and that I would not recommend any other. You have a very pleased
customer. Thank you for being there, dealers like yourselves make this
truly the best hobby!
Sincerely,
Jeff Robertson

Dear Tony,
Thank you so much for the
professional way in which you handled the sale of my stamp collection.
I built up the collection over a 40+ year period and it was an
emotional moment for me when I finally decided to sell it. Because of
the wonderful service I received from Maresch over the years as a
stamp buyer, it was a no-brainer for me when it came time to sell. As
anticipated, you did a masterful job and the prices realized exceeded
all expectations.
Thanks again and I would
certainly recommend R. Maresch and Son to any stamp collector, whether
buying or selling.

Dear Tony,
Your net check to me arrived in today's mail ..... I'm just
writing to say that I am very pleased, not only with the price
realized, but with the professional approach taken by your firm
throughout the entire process.
While I have been a buyer at a variety of stamp auctions over
the past two decades, this is my first experience as a seller, so
thanks for making it such a pleasant and rewarding experience.
Sincerely,

Dear Tony,
Recently your company
auctioned my collection which I had accumulated over the pasts 50+
years.
I decided I must sell the
collection because of financial considerations and the fact that I am
approaching middle age. Being a "closet" collector all these
years, I really wasn't sure of the best way to dispose of my stamps
and I only had two names in mind to sell my stamps with. I contacted
three members of the local stamp club and they came over to look a the
collections. They recommended R. Maresch & Son, Toronto.
A date and time was set up
and when you would personally estimate the value of the collection in
my residence, since I cannot travel. The
collection was given a very conservative estimate and sold well above
estimate!
I would like to thank you
for your expertise and kindness and your company for the effort that
was put into achieving a rather pleasing result.
Yours truly,
B.C.

Dear Mr. Maresch;
I would like to thank you,
your son, and staff for the wonderful presentation of my stamps at
your June auction. When your son phoned me I was very pleasantly
surprised. I will certainly recommend your company to all, for buying
and selling stamps. I was very well treated at your Yonge Street
office.
Thank you again.
A Happy Collector,

Dear Mr. Maresch,
I am in receipt of the
payment on the sale of my collection. As it made somewhat more than
you suggested originally, I am sure I owe this to the arrangement by
your firm of the collection, into suitable lots for auction.
Many thanks to you for handling this matter for me.

Dear Mr. Maresch;
This is a note to express
my appreciation with the way your company handled the sale of my
Canadian stamp collection. From the time you and an associate
came to my home and discussed the intricacies of an auction, nothing
could have gone more smoothly and I want to thank you for your honesty
and professionalism. If I was a person looking for a firm to do
the best job for me and auctioning off my collection, R. Maresch &
Son would be first on my list.
Most Sincerely

Hello Tony,
We received your cheque
today for the stamps that we brought in for Christine's mother as she
left her home. We must thank you for all of the fine work you did for
us. As we mentioned at our first contact, we know nothing about
collecting and were faced with the task of "doing something"
with the stamps. Trusting in your firm’s long traditions turned out
to be a wise move. From the beginning, you told us what was going to
be done and then you did it, and did it well.We were also pleased to
recommend you to a friend as she worked through her husband’s
collection. She too has appreciated the professional way you have
dealt with her. Thanks again for all of your help.
Kindest regards,
Paul & Christine Holloway

Dear Bill and Rick,
Many thanks to you and your staff at R Maresch & Son for all your
hard work in selling my West Indies collections so effectively. I
really appreciated you letting me review the descriptions and lotting
for my part of the auction, although, in the event I had little to add
to the excellent work you had done. Fellow collectors told me that
Toronto was the wrong place to sell West Indies, your results proved
them wrong.
You certainly performed
far better than major auction houses in Europe to which I have
consigned material in the past. My worries about having my material
among the last lots in a five-session, 2800-lot auction were also
proven to be groundless. I should also like to pass on to you the
comments of several fellow-collectors from overseas to the effect that
they were very pleased to bid with complete confidence on lots where
your wonderfully accurate colour illustrations gave them a true
feeling for the colour shades that can be so important in our hobby.
You did me proud - many thanks!
Sincerely,
John Tyacke

Dear Bill,
Our association in philately, and in friendship, has been an
enduring one. When I was assembling my collections of Small
Queens your company, as well as others, was a source of supply.
As well, I found that working with Tony when he was learning the
business a few years ago was certainly an enjoyable experience.
As you know, in the
last few years my health has declined to the point that I am no longer
able to enjoy working with my stamps, and it became necessary to
dispose of my award winning collections. Of course, I
immediately thought of R. Maresch & Son for that purpose.
Both June and I are
very appreciative of the way in which the sale of the collections was
conducted. Thank you and your staff for the professional
handling of this large project for us.
Best regards, and thanks
again.

Dear Bill:
The modern amateur collector needs two things in order to build
a significant and satisfying collection: (1) determination,
persistence, and judiciousness in assembling it, and (2) the guidance
of professional experts of absolute integrity whose knowledge and
experience in the field can supplement the collector's own. Likewise,
the eventual dispersal of a collection required similar dependability
and assistance from professionals.
Since much of modern
stamp collecting is necessarily channeled through auctioneers and/or
dealers whose business interests are involved, it is crucial that the
professionals involved are scrupulously honest.
Over many decades I
have placed primary responsibility in your firm for counsel in buying
and selling. I have never been disappointed and have developed full
faith and confidence in your direction and judgment. Every member of
your staff has been cooperative, helpful, and considerate and I am
delighted to recommend you unreservedly to all collectors in whatever
field of interest or wherever their geographical location.
Reputation cannot be
purchased; it must be earned. The reputation of R. Maresch & Son
is pristine.
Sincerely,
Jim Bloomfield

Dear Bill,
Although this letter is overdue, I wish to express my sincere
appreciation for the manner in which you handled the sale, last
October, of my postal history material and Nova Scotia proofs.
Everything went smoothly and without problems right from the time we
first spoke about the possibility of the sale over two years ago.
You and your staff made it
all very easy. I was most impressed by the wonderful catalogue
and the advance publicity. But most of all you produced a
wonderful "floor" where the bidding was spirited and many
lots exceeded even my best hopes. I don't believe even one lot
was left unsold.
Your lotting also showed a
sensitivity to my collection themes and kept much material in groups
that will allow buyers to build on what was started. Finally,
your computer system worked like a charm. I was amazed to
receive, just 30 minutes after the auction, both the complete record
by lot with prices realized and a good cognac. Bravo!
I am slowly
gathering the rest of my material and look forward to its sale
sometime soon. You know it gets harder and harder to sell your
"children" of the post. As more of them go, I seem to
be working more slowly than previously.
Thank all the staff and I look forward to our next joint
venture.
Sincerely,
J.J. MacDonald

Dear Bill,
The results are now in on your sale of my collection of used Canadian
stamps and covers, and I must take the opportunity to share my
reaction with you and your colleagues at R. Maresch & Son.
When I approached you last fall to discuss the possible disposition of
my collection, I did so with some trepidation. Guided by your advice
over many years, and with key acquisitions from your sales, I knew I
had formed a collection of quality and some philatelic value. I was
non-the-less concerned about the timing, how the material would be
catalogued, and whether I would have any input. I need not have
worried.
From the time of my initial consultation with you and Rick Sheryer, my
concerns received your fullest attention. As your work progressed, you
kept me fully informed and gave me several opportunities to be
involved. The collection could have been spread among several
auctions, but instead you recommended a single sale that would
highlight my approach, in a catalogue that departed from your normal
format. In terms of lotting, layout, and colour illustration, it set
new standards, in my opinion. By sale time I was completely satisfied
that everything had been done to present the best possible sale, from
my perspective and that of the bidders you hoped to attract.
The results, which far
exceeded my expectation, confirmed that my selection of R. Maresch
& Son had been the right choice. I would not hesitate to direct
prospective clients to your firm. Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
David Roberts

Dear Sirs:
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to your company and, in
particular Mr. Sheryer, for the expert advice and handling of my late
father's collection of stamps.
I found myself in a
difficult position representing numerous beneficiaries and knowing
very little about such a large collection. After speaking and meeting
with a number of different dealers and auctioneers, Mr. Sheryer
truthfully represented to me the best and most profitable solution to
selling the collection. He took the time and effort to deal with me
and was always willing to answer my numerous questions, to literally
go out of his way to help and always offered good advice, even on
matters that were only indirectly related to the collection.
The sale of Proceeds
exceeded the appraisal of the collection given by Mr. Sheryer. The
result of the auction of the collection was a wonderful surprise and
was a tremendous amount more than we would have received had we sold
the collection to a dealer.
I give high marks for the
professionalism of the firm, the courtesy and knowledge of the staff
and the excellent catalogue used for the auctioning of the stamps. I
will highly recommend your services to anyone with stamps to sell.
Sincerely yours,
Lori Ngo

Dear Folks:
I received my check today, right on time and right on expectation. The
professional way in which all the members of your firm handle
themselves is a testimony on how an auction house should be run.
From the day I
brought my collection to you until the day of settlement, I was
totally pleased with you. All lots were appropriately described and
lotted. I simply have no complaints and I hope we can do business
again in the future.
Again thank you on behalf
of myself and my daughter.
Respectfully yours,
Bruce Schwalb

are astounded and very grateful for the fantastic job you have done.
Sincerely Yours,
Nick Ivanans

Please find enclosed my payment for lot 747 from your
recent auction.
It is always gratifying to see that one can bid in confidence that a
high mail bid is only used when necessary. I greatly appreciate your
honesty and integrity. It is also appreciated that your lots are
carefully and accurately described with honest estimates of their
value. The buyers premium is worth every penny.
Yours sincerely,
Peter de Groot
